The FSVFolks Story

FSVFolks is an organization of past and present workers of the Fort St. Vrain Electric Generating Station located near Platteville, Colorado.  Our mission is to capture and maintain the history of the power plant and its people.  We also provide a means for members to stay in touch with each other and to get together both online and in person in Colorado at monthly events.  We maintain a museum and meeting location at the power station with the generous permission of plant administration and Xcel Energy.  In exchange we provide tour guides and other assistance back to the plant.  We also publish an occasional members newsletter and administer a private Facebook page.

The concept of FSVFolks started in about 1992, at the end of the nuclear days at Fort St. Vrain, when a directory of all known workers was created by R. S. "Joe" Pinner and his wife Cindy for a plant picnic held that year.   Before long Joe had built a website and was actively getting folks together online.  The current website has been online since 2000 and membership was about 450 people in 2015.

Though Joe's been retired from Fort St. Vrain since 2011, FSVFolks is still largely run by him and his wife with the help of several other members.  They may be reached via email at FSVFolks@reagan.com.
